"To whom does an unspecified swear word ever escape on a bicycle? Because you have to make another detour because of an open Amsterdam street? Sorry dear attendees, chances are that we have something to do with this, because at the Ingenieursbureau of the municipality of Amsterdam we are working, among other things, on newly asphalted bicycle streets. These are safer and rainwater flows away better. So those 5 minutes of detour by bike will still get you a lot.

Actually, we are the technical heart of the city. We are constantly solving complex spatial issues and what is so beautiful. As a city, we can try out possible solutions and see if it works and offer the smart solution or innovation to other cities free of charge.

Next slide. To innovate successfully, we provide implementation advice, organize knowledge events and what today is all about, we make knowledge findable and shareable. For example, the innovation projects and their contacts are on the renewed openresearch. One innovation you can find there is a new type of ground radar developed in collaboration with AMS Institute and consultancy TAUW. This will soon be able to show very precisely where tree roots lie and what their condition is. This will save an enormous amount of excavation work, inconvenience and money. Good for the tree, good for the residents and good for impatient cyclists.
