In early 2019, the idea of a Stories & Transformation Commission for Amsterdam education was born. The central idea was to collect stories in primary and secondary education from parents/caregivers and students of color and/or with a migration background. Patterns are brought to the surface, providing insights into what is going on. These insights can be used to make choices in order to initiate changes. In preparation for this Stories & Transformation (VT) Committee, we organized several meetings in the Pakhuis de Zwijger. Here, in addition to parents, teachers, school principals, education administrators, Amsterdam council members and the alderwoman for education and poverty reduction Marjolein Moorman were present, as well as a number of scientists from the faculties of sociology, psychology and law.
