Everyone deserves a decent roof over their head and a home that is clean, whole and safe. Too much moisture and mold in a home is unacceptable. It is detrimental to living enjoyment, can be harmful to health and should always be addressed as soon as possible. The Amsterdam housing corporations are already doing a lot against moisture and mold, but the problem can only be solved together with residents and the municipality. In late 2023, the Amsterdam housing corporations launched a joint, multi-year approach to combating moisture and mold in homes. In this, the corporations are pulling together with the municipality, GGD, !WOON and residents. Since then a lot of work has been done in which the corporations have invested a lot of money and freed up capacity for the approach: residents can now report damp and mold more easily, instruments have been developed and mold experts have been trained. The approach is still developing, but the parties involved are getting a better picture of the causes and learning from each other.
