'How do you know what you know?' Paradiso - January 14, 2025
"How do you know what you know?" is a question of all times and cultures that is subject to constant change. In our society, digitalization is having a profound effect on how we know what we know. However, due to a toxic mix of geopolitical tensions and rapidly evolving artificial intelligence, our everyday truth is at risk. While, as humans, we need knowledge to survive. On Jan. 14, we celebrated the unique collaboration for knowledge sharing between knowledge institutions, cultural and social initiatives, service organizations, the Province of North Holland and the City of Amsterdam at openresearch.amsterdam. This access to different types of knowledge is indispensable for the democracy, broad prosperity and resilience of the city and region of Amsterdam. The great strength of openresearch.amsterdam is diversity. Diversity in types of knowledge, in disciplines and topics, in methods and techniques, in encounters and relationships, in projects and productions, in the style of stories with the only great common denominator being the relevance for the city and region of Amsterdam. Research that informs the Amsterdam City Council is also published via openresearch.amsterdam. This makes visible who is working on what, and people with different types of knowledge can find each other at the right time to work together on new questions in the city.
