Within the legal tech project CircuLaw, continuous research is conducted on, among other things, the role of regulation within the transition towards a circular economy, digitisation of laws and regulations, application of policy instrument mixes and the role of European laws and regulations in the transition. On this Open Research page we post the results of these studies and in-depth documentation that provides interpretation or underlies the development of CircuLaw.

Dashboard Ongelijkheid in Amsterdam
Op 24 oktober 2022 presenteerde het Kenniscentrum Ongelijkheid het dashboard 'Ongelijkheid in Amsterdam'. Dit dashboard geeft inzicht op de ongelijkheden die zich voordoen in verschillende domeinen en levensfasen. Het laat de samenhang tussen verschillende domeinen en hoe ze van invloed zijn op de kansen in een ander domein. Zo gaat het over wonen, gezondheid en welzijn, werk, inkomen en onderwijs.
Het doel van Kenniscentrum Ongelijkheid is het beschrijven, begrijpen en aanpakken van ongelijkheid in de Metropoolregio Amsterdam. Het dashboard Ongelijkheid in Amsterdam draagt hieraan bij door beschrijvende statistiek over ongelijkheid beschikbaar te stellen. Hiermee kunnen andere partners van het kenniscentrum ongelijkheid gerichter aanpakken.Bent u onderzoeker, beleidsmaker of op een andere manier geïnteresseerd in het dashboard? Answering ethical questions and making complicated decisions when using sensors for crowd monitoring? The Responsible Sensing Toolkit helps you step by step.
The use of sensors in public space can offer many advantages regarding urban innovation. But how can you take social norms and values as a starting point? Together with the Responsible Sensing Lab and the City of Amsterdam, CITIXL developed the Responsible Sensing Toolkit based on the joint experience and expertise within this group.
Within six steps the Toolkit takes you through the most important considerations and dilemmas that you encounter when using sensors in public space responsibly, which helps you to draw up a concrete plan for your project. The Toolkit offers a handy overview of all the tools that are available. Within each step of the Toolkit you’ll find videos made by experts that help you understand the material.

Integral Design Method Public Space
Here you can follow our work around the Integral Design Method Public Space (IOOR). Amsterdam faces a major challenge in terms of the transition of public space in the coming years. A transition driven by climate change, the switch to sustainable sources of energy, the increasing scarcity of raw materials, and the digitalization of society. In addition, the city is growing steadily and increasing in density. Infrastructure below ground is growing apace, but space is running out. If current methods of city and area development remain unchanged, the transition will stagnate. In new development schemes the traditional idea of thinking from above ground to below ground is a thing of the past. Prioritizing underground space and the multiple use of space, the design method introduced in this publication is geared to programming public areas in an integral manner. In this method, public and private parties work together from an early stage to reserve space below ground for a healthy living environment, for new energy systems, for solutions to problems caused by heat and precipitation, for the desired circularity, and for nature-inclusive design. This accumulation of measures contributes to green, attractive and high-quality public space that makes the city a fine place in which to live, work, relax, play and enjoy life.

Handboek voor (tijdelijke) natuur bij veiligheidsmaatregelen voor kademuren
In het 'Handboek voor (tijdelijke) natuur bij veiligheidsmaatregelen voor kademuren' staan natuurinclusieve maatregelen en voorzieningen die kunnen worden toegepast in combinatie met veiligheidsmaatregelen bij verzwakte kademuren langs de Amsterdamse grachten en andere waterlopen. Door het creëren en stimuleren van tijdelijke natuur bij veiligheidsmaatregelen voor kademuren kunnen we de biodiversiteit en de waterkwaliteit verbeteren én bewoners en andere Amsterdammers een groener en fraaier uitzicht te geven.
Een groot deel van de kademuren in Amsterdam verkeert in slechte staat. Waar nodig ondersteunen we kademuren met veiligheidsconstructies of beperken we het gebruik van een kade. De tijdelijke maatregelen die we nemen zorgen niet alleen voor veilige en bereikbare kades, ze kunnen ook gebruikt worden om de natuur een handje te helpen. Van floatlands en olifantenidylles tot biohutten en plantvakken op opgeheven autoparkeerplaatsen, in het Handboek voor (tijdelijke) natuur bij veiligheidsmaatregelen voor kademuren vind je een schat aan ideeën en oplossingen. Die helpen om ondanks de noodzakelijke veiligheidsmaatregelen, de kades zo groen, leefbaar en mooi mogelijk te houden.
De ideeën zijn bedoeld als inspiratie en vormen ook een handvat voor uitvoering van beleid voor medewerkers van de gemeente Amsterdam en bedrijven die betrokken zijn bij het ontwerp, de voorbereiding en de realisatie van de veiligheidsmaatregelen bij kademuren in Amsterdam. Alle ideeën en oplossingen zijn een uitwerking van bestaand beleid en invulling van bestaande regelgeving voor groen, biodiversiteit, waterkwaliteit en de inrichting van openbare ruimte in Amsterdam.Uitgave

Handboek Rood, het Amsterdamse straatbeeld
Het Handboek Rood is een uitwerking van het Beleidskader Puccinimethode, zoals vastgesteld door de gemeenteraad in januari 2018. De beleidsmatige principes zijn vertaald naar profielen, technische details en materiaalvoorschriften. Tientallen tekeningen en 3D impressies ondersteunen de tekst. Een mijlpaal in de lange traditie van de Amsterdamse openbare ruimte. Gezien de omvang, de vele complexe facetten en nog lopende discussies zijn er onvermijdelijk nog zaken die verbeterd kunnen en moeten worden. Maar, op deze stevige basis werken we de komende jaren voort.
