There are all sorts of social issues in the city: challenges that no one in the municipality can deal with alone. Making a real difference requires cooperation between many people within the municipality and with many other players in the city. So everyone not only has something to perform within their own area of responsibility, but they also have connecting work to do outside that area. Especially if you have the ambition to really achieve something.
From that awareness, Amsterdam civil servants use liaison approaches that complement what you cannot achieve through regular (consultation) structures. Multiple organization so that you can do more together. The Connection Atlas charts 10 approaches used in the municipality, characterizes them concisely and visually, explores the similarities and differences between them and suggests how to get started.

The booklet is intended for any passionate Amsterdam civil servant (and any other interested party) who believes in connection work and wants to learn more about it. We noticed that everyone knows one or two approaches, but no one is simply familiar with what else is used for it within the municipality. If liaison work is part of ministry work, it would be wise to know what else is possible, how to choose between them and who to turn to for information or support.
